Movie Extra 101—Your Shortcut To Stardom

Lights! Camera! Action! Ever wanted to be in a movie? Now’s your chance! Gary Michael Smith is teaching a groundbreaking course on how to get work as a movie extra. Mr. Smith has appeared in eight major motion pictures and has worked with two casting companies to cast hundreds of movie extras for two major films. He also is the Special Assignment Editor for Louisiana Film and Video Magazine and former editor in chief of Shutter Magazine. See his profile on the Internet Movie Database.

In Movie Extra 101 you’ll discover why so many films have moved to New Orleans (often referred to as “Hollywood South”) and elsewhere in Louisiana, and how you can be a part of the business. You’ll learn about open casting calls and what to expect, as well as how to find and apply directly with casting companies. You’ll find out about acting classes and what they offer. You’ll learn about talent agents and whether or not you need one, and you’ll be given advice on getting speaking roles and the impact to you as a budding film star. You’ll even be given information on working with casting directors as a casting assistant as well as working with production companies as a production assistant. Numerous local and state resources will be provided as well as general information on the film and television industry as a whole.

Don’t miss this chance to be a part of the Hollywood South film industry!
