Working As an Extra
If you are interesting in working as a film extra, there are a few steps that you should follow to get started:
1. Buy Movie Extra 101 from this Web site to get a better understanding of what’s involved in this type of work.
2. Develop a résumé using a standard L.A./Hollywood Format Résumé Template, available in the Movie Extra 101 book and UNO course. (Not a necessary step if you have no previous experience.)
3. Develop a Motion Picture Personal Profile Sheet, available in the Movie Extra 101 book and UNO course. You’ll be asked by any production company to fill one out anyway, but it’s always good to have some on hand.
4. Have someone take a headshot and a full-body digital photo of you, and apply one photo to your résumé and the other to your personal profile sheet.
5. Send a cover letter with your résumé and/or personal profile sheet to Film Extra Casting Companies. (List available in the UNO course.)
Not too good with a computer? Chatgris Press will create your Hollywood Format Résumé and Personal Profile Sheet for $35 per page and will include two digital photos.
