NEW ORLEANS BOOKFAIR AND lOUISIANA BOOK FESTIVAL

•    Displayer, Louisiana Book Festival; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., November 2, 2002.

Initiator/Drafter/Implementer, Independent Publisher Month. Chatgris Press has taken the initiative to propose to the Governor’s office that a period of time to be dedicated to small presses and independent publishers in Louisiana. To this end, a proclamation was drafted and submitted in January 2003. On January 30, 2003, Governor M. J. “Mike” Foster signed the proclamation declaring the month of October 2003 Independent Publisher Month for the State of Louisiana.

•    Displayer, New Orleans Bookfair; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., October 25, 2003. This daylong book exposition is an annual show of over 100 different publishers from around the country. Displayed were handmade print working, homemade media, and exhibits of friends publishing friends for friends of friends. The event was held at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans, and Chatgris Press was there displaying its latest titles.

•    Displayer, Louisiana Book Festival; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., November 8, 2003. After a phenomenally successful first year with over 10,000 attendees, the Louisiana Library Foundation and the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism hosted its second Louisiana Book Festival. The event took place Saturday, November 8, 2003 at the Capitol grounds in Baton Rouge, LA with over 100 displayers and more than 20,000 attendees.
